During a visit at the pensioners’ club “Dobrudzhanska sresta” in Ruse, the participants of the international workshop “Education and Voluntary Work in the Third Age” experienced the hospitality of the seniors and their joy in singing and dancing.
After a Danube boat trip and a Ruse city tour the participants visited the local pensioners’ club “Dobrudzhanska sresta” in Ruse. The entrance of the building was located in an old underpass near to the railway station, the building from outside rather old and ugly. But inside the German, Romanian and Bulgarian visitors found a beautifully decorated room with a nice atmosphere and richly set tables. The seniors dressed in traditional dresses welcomed their guests with songs, bread and salt. Two singing groups and a musician with a fiddle sang and played traditional songs about their city and country. The guests were served with many delicious Bulgarian pastries and other delicious food. Especially for the German participants, this was a trip into another world of living and an insight into the lived hospitality of the Bulgarians.
This event took place on 11th of May 2019 as part of the international workshop “Education and Voluntary Work in the Third Age” in Ruse, Bulgaria.
