The Danube-Networkers were baking on the occasion of the 24th “Vesperkirche” in the Paulus church Ulm. On Monday the 4th of February twelve volunteer Danube-Networkers baked with joy and enthusiasm 300 birds from an amount of 25 kg yeast dough. They named them Ulms Danube-sparrows and provided them with the European flag and the message “Bread connects. Meet – Share – Community. Here and along the Danube “. The next day the Danube-sparrows were nicely packaged and given to the visitors of the Vesperkirche as a solidary present.
Every year in winter, the Paulus church in Ulm opens the doors to poor and needy people and becomes a “Vesperkirche” for one month. Everyone is invited to get a warm meal and company for couple of hours. Daily are served several hundred meals. Needy people receive it for a lower price, members of the community and citizens of Ulm are also welcome to dine together at the same tables and to get in touch with each other.
