- The bakehouse in Warmbronn has existed since 1848.
- It contains two ovens, lighted up with “Krähle” (bundles of brushwood) and then heated by branches as thick as a person’s arm.
- The bakehouse team (6 persons) bakes about 10 times a year.
- Once a year a town party, the so-called “Maifest” takes place at the end of May or early in June. On this occasion, sweet cakes, onion tarts and pizzas are sold directly from the bakehouse ovens.
- In 2017, the bakehouse people organized a “Transparent Production Day” – everyone was invited to come and look, ask and taste.
- A new event – first hosted in July 2018 – is “Supervised Baking”: The bakehouse team lights up the fire and supervises the baking activities of customers who bring their own dough.
- Pre-school and school children can participate in baking projects.
- Baked products include cookies, sweet cakes (braided yeast bread, butter cake, fruit cake), savoury cakes (onion tart, sour cream tart, potato cake) as well as quiches, pizzas, tartes flambee (kind of French pizza), buns, “Seelen” (baguette-like Swabian bread), various kinds of bread – and, every now and then, even meat in roasting trays can be cooked.
