- Long time ago, Grabenstetten had two bakehouses.
- Those bakehouses were built before 1920 and torn down in 1969.
- One of them stood opposite of the present bakehouse, the other one was located in front of the Raiffeisen Bank building.
- The existing bakehouse was built in 1969.
- It has two wood-burning baking ovens.
- They are heated by means of about 12 to 14 “Krähle” (bundles of brushwood and small branches).

- Each “baker“ has to bring his or her own “Krähle”.
- Baking products include “Genetztes” (wetted loaf; dough surface wetted before put into the oven), variations of cream and onion tarts, pretzel buns, “Seele” (baguette-like crusty Swabian bread, topped with salt and caraway) and finally, with less heat, “Hefezopf” (braided yeast bread, sometimes brioche-like).
- Usually, baking takes place about six times a month.

- Big events including a lot of baking are the huge street party “Kandelfest” in July, and the local public road run in January.
- It is said the “Kandelfest” in Grabenstetten were the oldest street party in the Swabian Alb Mountains region.
- The cooperation with the local elementary school allows the school children to learn baking directly in the bakehouse.
- The question of who can bake when, is decided by drawing lots.
